Remembering Naniji

                                                                                     From - Rama Venkataraman
                                                                                       ( Prerna's mother in law)
Prerna's Grand mother, an old scion has passed away. Recalling  nine decades of her life , a humble tribute to her.

As I remember her, my first contact with her was at the marriage of my son Ramanathan with Prerna.

My first impression of her was a frail, pious lady with good heart who should have seen time and events passing by her and gained wisdom which age confers on wise souls.

She was very pleased to have our son as the beau for her grand daughter. Though not belonging to the same community her wisdom told her the alliance will fetch her grand daughter a household where she can expect good life and future.

Over the last 10 yrs I had opportunity to meet her few more times and at times we wished one another over the phone.

Every time I found her courtesy and goodness shining forth, as well her feeling to reach out from where ever she was.

She was very excited and happy hearing the News of Agastya's arrival. By the time Arjun came her health had become weak and feeble and it was taking effort for her to react.

But in spite of her failing health she took pains to present her both great grandsons handmade woolen sweaters.I think this will surely help them to remember their great grand mother when they will become big enough to understand and recall admiringly the effort and love she could convey even in the ripe old age of 90.

Apart from these the things I have heard from Prerna about Nani's habits are worth emulating for any one who are on spiritual path.

Over the years she never missed the ' Amirith gadi' which we call Brahma muhurtham' .In order to catch the holiest part of the day and get connected with almighty, it seems she used to get up at the wee hrs of the night , take her bath and tell her 'pat with out fail. That shows her will power and dedication to her chosen goal to be one with her mentor and God.. There is no doubt she would have reached a good gati - a noble state.
